While attending the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives (TCCE) conference, I came back with a boatload of knowledge—of course—but just as valuable was something a little less obvious: observation.
I love watching how people interact. Do they seem genuinely happy? Do they enjoy their work? Are they truly connected to their purpose? I find myself drawn to those I call the “Top Dogs”—the ones behind the curtain, helping lead the charge and shape these incredible events. If you’re helping run the organization or pulling together a statewide conference like TCCE, I want to learn from you—and so I do!
Throughout the event, I had the chance to connect one-on-one with many of these amazing leaders (yes, I may have casually followed one of y’all into the lobby... worth it!). I’m incredibly grateful to each of you who took the time to share your insight, tools, and all that community-lovin’ energy with me. You reminded me of the power of collaboration and encouragement in this work.
I’ve come back to Ovilla with fresh goals pinned to my vision board and a heart full of inspiration. I also came home with a list of powerhouse women I deeply admire and look forward to learning from. It was refreshing—and honestly reassuring—to hear about shared challenges and creative solutions from peers who’ve been there.
I can’t wait to introduce some of these incredible professionals to our community and bring that energy to our newly founded Ovilla Chamber of Commerce. My board is going to learn from the best, and we’re just getting started!
With gratitude,
Sara Mires
President, Ovilla Chamber of Commerce
